Health and Life Sciences Advisor

Then you might be our new Commercial Advisor in the Health & Life Sciences team in North America. As a Commercial Advisor, you will be an integrated part of our team in Canada and our North American Health & Life Science Advisory team. You will be responsible for coordinating and leading strategic initiatives within public affairs including identifying, maturing and executing project opportunities for Danish companies in close collaboration with the rest of our Health team.

The role is based at the Royal Danish Consulate General in Toronto, Canada, and you will join a team of colleagues in Toronto, Ottawa and across the US. The role is not remote.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Provide advisory services to Danish companies, partners and public stakeholders looking to build business and partnerships in North America within healthcare and life science.
  • Specialize in the Canadian healthcare and life science sector with a specific focus on public affairs and digital health by mapping, network building and managing key stakeholders in Canada.
  • Coordinate and manage digital health projects and business development across North America.
  • Organize and execute events, workshops, and delegations to and from Denmark in collaboration with other commercial and public affairs colleagues.
  • Create and present North American public affairs strategies, market entry and business development strategies, as well as market intelligence to Danish companies and institutions.
  • Expand our local network in Toronto and Canada, by engaging with hospitals and academic institutions, health authorities, associations, consultants, and key opinion leaders.
  • Function as a link between Canadian customers and stakeholders, and Danish partners.
  • Conceptualize and execute projects with colleagues, partners and clients.
  • Creating ambitious meeting programs and providing support to high-level programs for delegations, ministerial visits and summits throughout the year – both in Canada, the U.S. and in Denmark.

Required qualifications

  • Experience in the Canadian healthcare and life science sector is a requirement.
  • Experience with or in-depth knowledge of the Canadian digital health initiatives and regulatory affairs would be a strong asset.
  • The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills and a commercial mind set, while possessing the ability to build deep knowledge in healthcare solutions and develop strong local networks across public and private stakeholders.
  • You have relevant education and relevant work experience (2-4 years) in public affairs, consulting or business development.
  • You have strong interpersonal skills and are ambitious, efficient and outgoing.
  • You are able to handle multiple tasks and work well under time pressure.
  • You have a strong sense of responsibility and the ability to work independently as well as in teams.
  • You have an excellent command of English (written and spoken).
  • You must have an existing open work permit in Canada.

Employment conditions

  • You will be offered full time employment for two years on a local contract with the possibility of extension.
  • You will be hired on local terms as “Commercial Advisor” and will have activity and value targets that are to be achieved via consultancy contracts with Danish health and life sciences companies that are entering/expanding in North America.
  • Your standard working hours will be 37 hours per week with a large degree of flexibility in organizing your daily working hours.
  • Your contract is regulated according to the “Local Staff Rules” of the Danish representations in Canada.
  • Your salary will reflect your qualifications, relevant work experience and proven work-related results.
  • Other benefits: You will be entitled to five weeks paid vacation annually, group healthcare benefits and pension scheme.
  • Travelling in North America and to Denmark should be expected.
